Software-Unternehmen aus Cambridge bei Boston (USA), das durch seine Textadventures bekannt wurde. Es wurde am 22. Juni 1979 gegründet, 1986 von Activision übernommen und 1989 endgültig geschlossen. In Abgrenzung zu den Ende der 1970er Jahre verbreiteten Arcade-Spielautomaten und -Konsolen, deren Spiele sich zunehmend in die wachsende Homecomputer-Community verlagerten, begann Infocom mit der Textadventure-Serie Zork und manifestierte damit ein neues Spiele-Genre. Anfang der 1980er Jahre folgten weitere Textadventures von hoher literarischer Qualität, wofür Infocom den Begriff Interactive Fiction prägte.
